What we found

A median of $294 in a market that stretches to $1,599.99

The single most striking number in this dataset is the spread. The cheapest robot vacuum we recorded was listed at $79.99; the most expensive at $1,599.99. That is a 20x difference between the floor and ceiling of a single product category on a single storefront.

The median price of $294 is the more representative figure for what a shopper actually encounters. The average of $443.04 sits well above it, which is the statistical signature of a right-skewed market: a small cluster of expensive, dock-equipped flagships drags the mean up while the bulk of listings sit far lower.

Price statistic Value
Listings with a price 41 of 41
Minimum $79.99
Median $294
Average $443.04
Maximum $1,599.99

The distribution is bottom-heavy

Splitting the 41 listings into four equal-width price bands makes the skew concrete. The lowest band alone holds 66% of the sample, while the top two bands — everything above $840 — together account for just 8 listings (20%).

Price band Listings Share
$80–$460 27 66%
$460–$840 6 15%
$840–$1,220 4 10%
$1,220–$1,600 4 10%

In practical terms: for every listing above $840, there are more than three below $460. The premium tier is visible and well-populated enough to shift the average, but it is not where the volume of listings sits.

Brand concentration and a crowded long tail

Six brands accounted for the majority of identifiable listings in the sample:

Brand Listings Share
roborock 10 24%
dreame 6 15%
Robot 5 12%
Shark 3 7%
iRobot 3 7%
Bagotte 3 7%

Roborock and dreame together hold 16 of 41 listings (39%) — a meaningful concentration for a category that also includes long-established names. Note that "Robot" (5 listings, 12%) reflects listings whose title-derived brand token was generic rather than a distinct manufacturer, so it should be read as an artifact of listing-title conventions rather than a single competitor.

Legacy brands appear smaller than their name recognition might suggest: Shark and iRobot each held 3 listings (7%), the same count as budget-oriented Bagotte.

Ratings are high and review counts are deep

Forty of the 41 listings carried a rating, and the average was 4.27★. Compressed, high ratings are common in mature marketplace categories and limit how much signal a star score alone carries.

Review depth is where the differences show. The sample carried 343,538 reviews in total, with a median of 1,786 per listing — meaning a typical listing here has accumulated well over a thousand customer reviews, while the total is concentrated among a smaller number of very heavily reviewed products.

Finally, 32% of the listings we captured were sponsored, a reminder that roughly one in three results a shopper sees in this category is a paid placement rather than an organic ranking.

Methodology

BytePlaza analyzed a sample of 41 current Amazon listings returned for the search term "robot vacuum" on 2026-08-17. All 41 listings carried a price; 40 carried a customer rating.

Prices, star ratings, review counts, and sponsored flags are recorded as listed at the time of capture and are subject to change. Brand attribution is derived from listing titles, which can produce generic tokens (see "Robot" above). Price bands are equal-width intervals across the observed range.

No physical testing was performed. This study describes the state of the Amazon marketplace listing set on the date above — not product performance, durability, or suction as measured independently.
